You will be met by a representative of Hobby Tours upon your arrival at the Bucharest, Sibiu, or Cluj Napoca airport who will take you to your hotel at Zarnesti where you will be staying for the next 3 nights.
The next day we will visit Piatra Craiului (King's Stone) National Park. which is an especially good area for observing the Alpine Accentor, Rock Thrush and the Wallcreeper. Other birds which also may be observed include: the Black Stork, Short-toed Eagle, Honey Buzzard, Rock Bunting, Ring Ouzel. Later in the evening on request we can arrange bear-watching. On the third day of the tour we will head to Sinaia, which is one Romania's best known holiday camps. Here it is possible to observe the Red-brested, Collared, Pied and Spotted Flycatchers; Serins; Common and Black Redstarts; Treecreepers and Swifts. In addition, high mountain bird species such as the Horned Lark and Alpine Accentor can be observed by taking a high lift which is accessible via a few hours hike.
On the forth day we will travel to Sovata where we will stay for the next 4 nights at the Tivoli Hotel. During our journey there we will stop at the Sinpaul fish ponds which are an excellent location to observe waders, shorebirds, and raptors during their migration period from April to May. Some specific species you may be able to observe are the Black-necked Grebes; Night and Purple Herons; Black and White Storks; Ferruginous Ducks; Lesser-spotted Eagles; Red-throated Pipits; Great Reed Warblers; Bearded Reedlings; Red -backed Shrikes; Feldegg and Yellow Wagtails; and Corn Buntings.
From the Sinpaul fishponds we will travel to the Corund village where you can admire the amazing Transylvanian pottery.
In Sovata we will stay at the Hotel Tivoli which is surrounded by a broad leafed forest, giving you the opportunity to observe the Common Redstart, Nuthach, Coal Tit,Robin, Blackbird, Chaffinch and Red-breasted Flycatcher in the early morning from the hotel terrace.
